With this choice of hanger the Federal Armed Forces wanted an appealing design which blended into the location of the construction site. Furthermore the hanger is supposed to represent the shape of an aircraft from the 1930s through the special structure of its welded wallbeams.
A particular challenge posed by this project was incorporating the crane rails into the whole hanger construction which in turn was intercontected with the whole strain-distorion process of the building.
